Lightning grants the user the ability to control, summon, and transform into lightning. This allows them to summon rumbling thunderstorms capable of paralyzing their enemies. The user can also move at lightning-fast speeds, effectively teleporting across the battlefield.
Lightning is known as a very versatile Blox Fruit due to its stuns, AoE, and movement ability, making it excel in many of Blox Fruit's activities, most notably PvP and Sea Events.
In terms of grinding, Lightning is a viable option in all seas because of its Elemental Reflex, large AoE and stuns. The [X] Thunderstorm + [Z] Lightning Orb is useful for grinding as it stuns and disables the enemy's moves, which gives the user free reign to simultaneously use Fighting Style attacks.
The wielder is immune to all physical attacks (fighting style, sword, gun) from players unless the attacks are imbued with Aura. Against NPCs, this immunity applies unless they are of a higher level. This effect is only effective against non-boss enemies.
Orb Charge
The user has 4 round electric orbs that spawn behind them. [Z] Lightning Orb, [V] Thunderball Destruction and [F] Electric Flash all consume an orb. Orbs take 5 seconds (3 seconds if upgraded) to recharge. [Z] Lightning Orb and [F] Electric Flash cannot be used without them.
Power Streak
+
-
The player continuously shoots out short bursts of lightning that deal low damage and stun. This attack can chain through multiple enemies. When hitting an enemy, your lightning orbs charge significantly faster.

Lightning Orb
1 Mastery
+
-
This move possesses three variations, each using a certain amount of orbs:
If tapped (Z1):
The user shoots one of their charged orbs toward the aimed area. Consecutive orbs deal reduced damage. This variation uses 1 orb.
If short-held (Z2):
Upon holding the move for at least 0.5 seconds, the user creates an electrified sphere and throws it toward the cursor, pulling enemies in before exploding. This variation uses 1 orb.
If fully held (Z3):
Upon holding the move for at least 1.5 seconds, the user summons an electric dragon. After releasing the move, depending on the situation, one of two variations will occur:
If hit: The user launches the dragon forward, which explodes on contact, or when it reaches max distance, dealing decent damage. If used on a group of enemies, the dragon will instead dash between each enemy in a certain area once before finally rising to the sky and disappearing. The latter variant deals slightly less damage and knockback, and sometimes instead gathers the enemies that are hit. If used in a crowd of nearby enemies, it chains and damages by travelling around and hitting the enemies and blasts.
If hit (upgraded): If the user comes into contact with an enemy while dashing, the user grabs them, performing a 5-strike combo before knocking them away.

Thunderstorm
90 Mastery

-
The user conjures a thundercloud from the sky. Shortly after, lightning bolts start striking the ground, stunning those hit. This move has two variations that can be activated by using [Z] Lightning Orb on the cloud:
Z1 (tap): Each orb extends the duration of the ability by around 5 seconds.
Z3 (hold): The user summons an electric dragon that bursts out from the cloud and crashes to the ground in the direction of the cursor. When used from higher altitudes, its targeting range increases.

Thunderball Destruction
250 Mastery

Electric Flash

This move possesses two variations:
If tapped: The user zaps forward, consuming an orb. Any enemies in the user's way will be briefly stunned and damaged.
If held The user performs continuous teleporting strikes if multiple enemies are standing close to each other.

If tapped: The user zaps forward, consuming an orb. Any enemies in the user's way will be briefly stunned and damaged.
If held The user performs continuous teleporting strikes if multiple enemies are standing close to each other.
Extended storm makes grinding very easy, even allowing the player to use any Fighting Style or Sword, as the enemies are stunned by the shower of thunderbolts.
Although it can land midair, the angle the move is launched at is off center (due to its tendency to sink), making it nearly impossible to land consistently.
High knockback.
[F] Electric Flash
No longer carries momentum.
May not teleport if spammed too quickly.
Held variation is useless, as the damage is extremely low, and just wastes a charge.
Notes
Lightning's [X] move cannot be used in any place with a low roof, or any kind of cover. (buildings, Magma Admiral's volcano, etc).
However, both [X] and [C] can still work normally if the roof is high enough (such as the roof of the Factory).
[X] Thunderstorm could be used in places with a roof before Update 20, where it was changed to act like [C].
After the rework, due to the new mechanics on [V] Thunderball Destruction, it too cannot be used under some places with roofs, as it will detonate instantly.
Due to Lightning being easily countered in aerial combat (with the only reliable functional move being [C] Sky Judgement), it is recommended to use it as a supporting stun fruit for Swords and Guns instead.
It is highly recommended to use [Z] Soul Shaker of the Skull Guitar after using [V] Thunderball Destruction, as it negates the knockback.
The final panel upgrade, Conductor's Resonance, is extremely pricey, and requires the user to eat an additional physical Lightning, whilst already having Lightning activated, essentially wasting an entire fruit.
Unless absolutely needed for completion purposes, it is highly recommended to ignore this upgrade outright, as the extended beast is nearly useless in both PvP and PvE, due to its terrible hitbox and awful damage, even being unable to hit enemies midair.

Trivia
Ashen is the first boss to utilize the reworked Lightning fruit.
Lightning is the only fruit to be completely negated via immunity, said fruit being Rubber.
Rubber users are also immune to the stuns, not just damage.
Lightning is the only fruit that does not display a full cooldown with its move [Z] Lightning Orb and [F] Electric Flash.
Before the release of Update 27.0, players who had Rumble fully awakened (V2) received three upgrades on the Admin Panel for free.
Before its rework, Lightning was used almost exclusively as a stun support for Swords and Guns.
The reworked version of Lightning combines aspects from the old V1 and V2 of Rumble.
The [X] Thunderstorm resembling the V1 [X] Sky Thunder, while functioning like V2.
The [C] Sky Judgement being a much stronger and faster version of V1 [C] Sky Beam.
The [V] Thunderball Destruction having V2's size and startup, but taking V1's [V] Thunder Bomb speed and range.
Lightning raids are the first and only raids to be removed from Blox Fruits entirely (previously the swordPole (2nd Form) was inaccessible after the removal of Lightning raids, but now it can be obtained by getting struck by a lightning in Rough Sea while holding Pole (1st Form).)
Lightning has four reskin variants — Yellow, Purple, Green and Red. Each one is considered a separate fruit and has its own distinct physical appearance.
Upon eating any Lightning fruitskin, the user is granted the corresponding permanent CHROMATICskin.
[V] Thunderball Destruction is the first ever ability in Blox Fruits to have five variants; all scaled between orb usage from 0-4 orbs.
Charging [X] Thunderstorm with 3-4 Z1 orbs can stunNPCs for over 10 seconds, allowing the user to use fighting style M1s on them to deal extra damage. This is good for grinding since it can easily kill a group of enemies.
When using [F] Electric Flash, a distinct 'pop' sound effect, almost like a bubble, can be heard.
Due to a glitch, Lightning's cosmetic orbs do not appear in the Dungeon Hub.
A fully charged [V] Thunderball Destruction can almost cover the entirety of the Jungle.
The user can eat any of the Lightning skins for the final research challenge (Conductor's Resonance). They will receive the skin, and the quest will be completed.
The lightning ring of [V] Thunderball Destruction stays in place when moving in a boat.
The [TAP] Power Streak skill of this fruit causes great amounts of FPS lag if held for over a minute. (This can be used to badly lag servers in some cases)
Lightning's [Z] Lightning Orb + [X] Thunderstorm is the single highest ranged attack in the entire game, being able to hit across entire islands.
Even after the name change, most players still call it Rumble.
There is a glitch where if you use [F] Electric Flash until the player uses all of the charges, and then quickly activate V3, the player will gain a few more charges, making this good for escaping PvP.
The non-upgraded Z3 move can chain and ⁰damage nearby enemies, which is very useful in grinding and consists of no cooldowns.
Lightning's obtainment was disabled outside of the events and using Robux , up until Updates 31, where it was finally made obtainable via natural spawning, and the Blox Fruit Gacha.
There is currently an un-released White Lightningskin, only being teased by rip_indra. The skin is primarily white, with black accents, making it the only color besides Purple and Default to have two shades.
Lightning's Moveset skill names came from the awakened Rumble fruit.
