Race Awakening
Race Awakening, also referred to as Race V4, is a mechanic that allows a race to be upgraded from Version 3 to Version 4. This process grants the user powerful race-specific buffs, which may include increased mobility, reduced cooldowns, damage and defense enhancements, or support effects for allies.
These upgrades are unlocked by completing a series of quests, puzzles, and trials, with requirements and content varying based on the chosen race.
Unlocking
Race Awakening can be unlocked by completing the Race Awakening puzzle.

Race V4 Passives/Abilities
Upon unlocking Race V4 for any race, the player receives one of five gears. The specific gear obtained cannot be selected unless the player completes the trials again. Placing the first gear grants access to Ancient Powers. To obtain the remaining gears, the player must complete additional trials and win their corresponding boss fights. Although five trials are required for full awakening, only four successful trial completions are necessary. The fifth trial unlocks the Ancient Clock, which allows the player to switch gears at will. Once all stages are complete, gears can only be changed by redoing a trial or rejoining the game.
Race V4 also unlocks an ability called Awakening. To activate it, the player must fill a transformation gauge located beneath the energy bar. This gauge increases by dealing damage, with player damage contributing more than NPC or boss damage. Once the gauge is full, pressing the left mouse button or the Y key triggers a transformation animation. The player is invincible during this animation, and the visual effects vary by race. After transformation, the player receives additional stat boosts.
Ancient Powers:
Upon transformation, the player receives max stats, along with a 10% increase to damage, speed, and healing.
Trivia
On December 31, 2022, at 8:30 PM (PST), the Race Awakening “reveal” premiered. However, this sparked widespread outrage in the community. Everything leading up to it suggested that it wouldn’t just be a showcase but also explain how to obtain V4. Despite labeling it a “release” and including an in-game timer, it was merely a showcase. In the video description, they clarified: “Race Awakenings will be released on January 6th in the evening (US time). Stay tuned for more information.” This confirmed that Race Awakening was never obtainable before, and many players wasted time trying to access it prematurely. The actual release date, January 6, 2023, coincided with a real-life full moon.
In the Update 17.3 trailer, some devs and admins are shown transforming without idle animations. This explains why Race Awakening wasn’t available during that update—it was still incomplete. In Update 17.3.5 (Christmas 2022), the developers adjusted the timing of full moon cycles. The first full moon message — “The light of a full moon peaks through the clouds” — appears exactly 54 minutes and 2 seconds after a new server is created. For example, in a solo private server, the moon message appears at that time. The full moon lasts for 11 minutes and 17 seconds (ending at 1:05:19 total server time), with the “peak” occurring 6 minutes and 48 seconds after the message (at 1:00:50 total time). This timing has been used for moon resonance strategies.
Race Awakening was introduced to address PvP imbalances, particularly issues like teaming, runners, and surprise attacks during grinding. V4 gives players a strong combat boost that must be activated by filling the Awakening gauge—done by dealing or receiving damage. Players can transform by pressing the hotbar tool or the Y key.
Solo players can charge their meter faster by fighting teamers. Teamers can awaken too, but only if they risk staying in combat. Runners cannot charge their meter easily, while jump-in attackers are at a disadvantage, as their opponents likely already have progress on their meters. As of the Valentine’s Event Update, players can now resonate with the moon from a Mirage Island, even if the moon is not full. This means that moon resonance is possible during any lunar phase. A bug where low-level enemies gave too much Awakening energy was also patched in this update.
- It takes 77 minutes of transformation (or 77 transformations) to complete the full training for a single race. For all seven races, this adds up to 539 minutes (roughly 9 hours).
- Fully awakening a race costs
26,750. Awakening all seven (Human, Rabbit, Shark, Angel, Ghoul, Cyborg, and Draco) costs
187,250 in total. - When Race V4 was first released, a bug allowed players to fill the Awakening gauge by grinding Bandits in First Sea. This was quickly patched.
- The lowest possible level a player can unlock Race V4 is level 1509, as the get 3 levels from Rip_Indra and 6 levels from Dough King.
- If the player completes the trials, but cannot interact with the clock due to a glitch, they still get the awakening if its the first trial, and the title for the race they are.
