Races
Races are one of the core systems in Blox Fruits. Your race determines a set of unique passive perks and buffs, and each race can be upgraded through four versions that unlock progressively stronger abilities.
All Races
There are seven races in the game. Four can be rolled naturally, while the other three must be earned through special content.
| Race | How to Obtain | V3 Ability |
|---|---|---|
Human | 62.5% chance when first joining the game | Last Resort |
Rabbit | 12.5% chance when first joining the game | Agility |
Shark | 12.5% chance when first joining the game | Water Body |
Angel | 12.5% chance when first joining the game | Heavenly Blood |
Ghoul | Bought from the Experimic for 100 Ectoplasm and a Hellfire Torch | Heightened Senses |
Cyborg | Completing the Cyborg puzzle | Energy Core |
Draco | Completing the Dragon Wizard quest | Primordial Reign |
Changing Race
Your race can be rerolled at random between Human, Rabbit, Shark, and Angel by:
- Paying 3,000 fragments to Tort (not available in the First Sea).
- Buying a Race Reroll for 90 Robux in the Products shop.
- Buying a Race Reroll during certain events, such as the Christmas, Halloween, and Valentines events.
Ghoul, Cyborg, and Draco cannot be obtained from rerolls. However, once earned, they can be switched back to at any time via their respective NPCs: the Experimic for Ghoul, the secret puzzle NPC for Cyborg, and the Dragon Wizard for Draco. Switching back to Cyborg costs 2,500 fragments each time, while Ghoul and Draco are free to return to.
Race Versions
Every race has four versions (V1 through V4), each layering additional abilities on top of the base passives. V2 and V3 become available in the Second Sea, while V4 unlocks in the Third Sea after meeting certain requirements.
Version 2
V2 is obtained by speaking to the Alchemist in the Green Zone and finishing the Flower Quest. Starting the quest requires level 850 or higher and completion of the Colosseum Quest. Purchasing V2 costs 500,000 money.
Draco works differently: the player must be level 2000, talk to the Dragon Wizard, and defeat enemies for a low chance of dropping Fire Flowers (each drop on a five-minute cooldown). After collecting 5 flowers, return to the Dragon Wizard and pay 1,000,000 money.
Version 3
V3 unlocks an extra active skill triggered with the T key. To begin, the player needs:
- V2 of their current race.
- Level 1000.
- To have defeated Don Swan and unlocked the door to his room.
- 2,000,000 money on hand before speaking to Arowe.
Arowe hides behind a secret entrance in the plateau where the Diamond boss resides. He assigns a quest based on the player's race:
- Human: Defeat the first three Second Sea bosses: Diamond, Jeremy, and Orbitus.
- Rabbit: Collect 30 chests.
- Shark: Kill a naturally spawned Sea Beast (summoned ones, including the Tide Keeper's, do not count).
- Angel: Kill another player who has the Angel race.
- Ghoul: Kill 5 players of any level in the same Second Sea server; the same player can be killed all five times, and bounty or honor gain is not required.
- Cyborg: Show Arowe any physical fruit (he does not take it).
Purchasing V3 costs 2,000,000 money. For Draco, the path again runs through the Dragon Wizard instead: defeat a Terrorshark, then return and pay 3,000,000 money.
Version 4
V4, also called Race Awakening, grants several additional skills and involves quests, puzzles, and trials specific to each race. To start, the player must have:
- Defeated the rip_indra Raid Boss.
- Defeated the Dough King.
- Unlocked V3 of their race.
With those complete, talking to the Sealed King begins the awakening process. The V4 ability is activated with the Y key.
Notes
- Unlocking the Slayer Skin for the Dark Blade requires V3 on every starter race (Human, Rabbit, Shark, and Angel); Ghoul, Cyborg, and Draco are excluded since they cannot be rolled at spawn.
- V3 quest progress is lost when leaving the game, but dying does not reset it.
- Ghoul, Cyborg, and Draco can never appear from rerolls or on a fresh account; they must be earned through their quest lines.
- After switching away, Ghoul and Draco can be reclaimed for free from their NPCs, while Cyborg costs 2,500 fragments to reclaim.
Trivia
- Getting every race to V3 costs 19,000,000 money, not counting the fragments spent on rerolls.
- Fully awakening V4 on every race costs 187,250 fragments.
- Race versions are remembered per race: upgrading Angel to V3 and then switching to Human keeps Angel at V3 for when you return.
- Cyborg is the only race with no passive movement buff (V4 aside).
- Rabbit's Agility ability does not stack with Awakened Ice's Ice Skating.
- Before Update 13, a Rare Artifact could be traded to Norp for a Race Reroll; fragments replaced this.
- Changing race during combat respawns the player without counting as a death, so the attacker gains no bounty from it.
- Draco is the only race whose appearance visibly changes at V2.
Release History
Human, Rabbit, Shark, and Angel launched with the game in Update 1. V2 and V3 arrived in Update 8, Ghoul in Update 12, Cyborg in Update 14, Race Awakening (V4) in Update 18, and Draco in Update 24. Update 17.3 rebalanced dashes and run speed across all races, closing most of the speed gap between Rabbit and the rest.
